Going Green using the Gulf Stream!
I have been in Physics class the last month and one topic we covered was hybrid cars. I will talk about my idea on that subject later in the week, but for now, I found this article that talks about Florida harnessing the power of the gulf stream in order to create electicity. They also have a VIDEO about how it could work, provided by Florida Atlanta University.
Now THAT would be going green! How fast can we get started? This should be part of the Pickens Plan!
I have lived on this sandbar for 35 years and I feel today like we are more like the island of Manhattan (New York City), than the Florida I knew when I first got here. Population has exceeded the availability of our resources and the increase in population will not stop soon. We need to get creative – ideas like harnessing the Gulf Stream to create “clean power” is something we can use….combined with Desalinization plants for water and even (next post) burning saltwater to power our automobiles may be the ‘wave’ of the future!
