My history in “Internet Marketing”
ApopkaFL.com: 3/7/2000-11/26/2001
The first Internet Marketing website I ever did. We sold community ads and listings to small businesses to support the website and our business. I even developed a custom ApopkaFL.com Monopoly game that Hasbro approved! BankFirst gave us the old Barnett Bank building in downtown to use as a community center for a short time until they were prepared to open it as a branch office. When that proverbial door closed, a window opened, leading us to our next adventure:

Hummingbird Wireless: 2001- to 2007 (dormant 2008/2009).
Our first website for Wi-Fi when we were R&D. Fun stuff walking around Winter Park at 3am carrying a VERY (back then) expensive IBM laptop and having people look at us like we had 3rd heads. God that was an amazing and fun time on the bleeding (cash) edge of technology!! Imagine running radio ads in Central Florida asking people if they want a wire-less connection to the internet, putting up a form online that rivals any insurance form ever made (in length and # of questions), and getting more than 17,000 people to fill it out completely! Yeah, they wanted wireless/Wi-Fi really badly in 2oo1. Too bad it would take 4+ years to become affordable!

Impulse Connect: 2003-to-2009 as Wi-Fi HotSpot VAR/Integrator. (2010 it evolves into Web 2.0 Marketing)
Another community styled website, a hybrid of ApopkaFL.com mixed with our community Wi-Fi network. At the onset we could put the network into residences and businesses using a single DSL hybrid with our own single router on it. When it got to the business or home, they simply needed a 802.11x radio – like a Linksys WAP 11. Cheap at $50. Useable all over the community.
It was the ultimate idea in internet marketing — tie the community to the business district and serve up ads and a portal to tie it all together. Of course, again, it was bleeding edge and we bled cash until we were dead and d/c the idea in 2005.
We are going to re-create this idea in 2009 – now that the concept has finally matured enough to make it viable, we know exactly where and how to get it done!

WirelessLaw.us – 2002-2004, M.I.A., no archive of .us domains. Boo-hoo (I have it on paper somewhere, will eventually find it, scan it and post it!)
In 2002, this was our first Wi-Fi Enabled Courthouse: Orange County Courthouse in Orlando FL.
Again politics tried to derail this, but we refused to give in – mostly because by the time we launched this project, we had enough experience with various equipment that we could do it without cooperation. Maybe because we were represented by one of the biggest law firms in Orlando, when we were told they were claiming rights to the airspace, we created our slogan: “the air is free!” and proceeded anyway.
We put ‘in the air’ wireless through 80% of all 26 stories of the Courthouse using external locations outside the building. We bonded two T1 lines and that allowed users in the Courthouse to roam anywhere in the building without having to login again and again between the two lines.
The cost? $150k in hardware/deployment costs. $1,500 a month for the two datalines and $3,000 a year for support, maintenance and ITsec. We sold ads on the login page to partially support the system and a subscription fee for use.
The final story: ahead of it’s time, bleeding edge, when our R&D was finished, and suffering due to the economic after effects of 9/11, we couldn’t get anyone to pay for use and we had limited advertisers on the push page, so we had to d/c the service in 2004.

WirelessMD.us – 2002-2004, M.I.A. but i still own the domain so BOLO!
After WirelessLaw.com proved we could build it, but despite excitement they still didn’t come – we mothballed this domain and have been waiting for the market to mature. Well, it has sufficiently matured as has our idea for rural healthcare related service, so we are ready to move this baby out of mothball status and get to work with our mobile rural healthcare initiative and medical records initiative developed in 2002.
